Welcome to the long-awaited Virtual BAME Leadership Conference!

This Black History Month we have decided to do something special and create our first ever BAME Leadership Conference, connecting industry with future talent. At the same time, we want to continue the conversation and the momentum created by the death of George Floyd by equipping those in industry with the tools to move the dial to Equality.

The Event Theme:

Tackling the elephant in the room. And helping organisations be colour brave!

The Virtual Conference:

The conference is designed to

  • Showcase BAME leaders across different sectors
  • Empower allies from outside the BAME community with knowledge and tools to be part of the change
  • Most importantly to educate, empower and connect future BAME talent to those in industry.

4.30 pm: Keynote:

Our Key Note Panel: Will speak on the event theme tackling the elephant in the room. And helping organisations be colour brave!

5.15 pm: Breakout Session 1 – BAME leaders panel – Showcasing BAME Role Models in various Sectors

Panel Theme: What I have faced as a BAME person in my career and how has industry moved to equality. We will close with the question of how can we activate change to accelerate the move to equality as individuals and as an industry.

  • Employer Zone: Employers sharing their opportunities and programmes with our dream hunters

7pm – 8pm – Final Break Out Sessions: 

Tackling the elephant in the room. Fierce conversations on race and providing attendees with the tools and techniques to handle situations which currently are left unchallenged

  • Can I call you Margret? How to deal with microaggression, the unconscious and conscious bias in the workplace
  • I don’t see colour. How to educate well-meaning allies and empower them to move to equality
  • How to become an equality champion and kickstart a programme to move to equality
  • Demystifying the perceived and real barriers for BAME candidates from getting into industry
  • Starting my professional career. What it is like as a BAME trainee/apprentice/graduate scheme hire in industry

Free Time – Virtual Speed Mentoring – One to One with industry

In the speed mentoring zone you will be matched automatically at 10 minute intervals with our industry mentors. You will be able to speak to them via webcam on a one to one basis.

The processes is automated and is designed to enable you to connect and learn from as many industry leaders as possible.

Our Mission

We hope to benefit as many attendees with ongoing support after the event. Support includes mentoring and career days delivered in partnership with our sponsors.

Some attendees will be selected for ongoing support, including workshops, career days and access to some of our work experience and insight programmes at employers.

Note there are real active jobs and programmes that you will be able to engage with HR managers about on the day.
