What is Open Your Doors Day?

More than outreach — this is an invitation. On 18 September 2025, employers across the UK and Ireland will open their doors — hosting young people from underrepresented groups for a short, high-impact career exposure experience.  
From law firms to tech companies, from finance giants to consultancies — together, we're showing that opportunity isn't about privilege. It's about potential.   

Big or small, every door opened matters.  
A simple panel session, a tour, and lunch with staff.  
A meeting room gathering of 15 young people and 3 employees.  
A full day of workshops and networking.

    Which departments usually take the lead on this initiative?

    Typically, Talent teams lead OYD events due to the strong link to hiring pipelines. Others involve CSR, ESG teams, or employee resource groups.

    We already do outreach—what makes OYD different?

    OYD harnesses the collective visibility of top employers to reach talent that individual efforts often miss. Unlike other programmes, you can showcase your job opportunities and employer brand to the full network of registrants. In just one day, OYD connects 1,000+ young people with inclusive employers.

    Does the event have to be on 18th September?

    No – Events can be hosted anytime in September. However, only events on 18th September qualify as official OYD events and count towards the national impact assessment.

    Can we choose the age group we engage with?

    Yes — you can choose to host secondary school students, university-level learners, or early-career professionals (up to age 30). We’ll align the right group with your team and goals.

    Why is Open Your Doors Day held in September?

    We’ve aligned OYDD with the week of Open House London — a national celebration when many of the city’s most iconic buildings open their doors to the public. It’s a symbolic time to not only open spaces but to open up industries, opportunities, and futures. While Open House is based in London, Open Your Doors Day is a UK-wide initiative, encouraging employers across the country to take part.
